2020 CMSAF James C. Binnicker Memorial VIRTUAL Run
"Care for Alzheimer's"
The 6th Annual CMSAF James C. Binnicker Memorial Run is VIRTUAL
Your health and safety are important to us. Instead of our annual gathering of runners and walkers at Bob Hope Village in Shalimar, Florida, the 6th Annual CMSAF James C. Binnicker Memorial Run is VIRTUAL for 2020.
Run or walk where ever you are, indoors or outdoors, from the comfort of your favorite treadmill, track, or trail.
It's about much more than running.
Supporting "Care for Alzheimer's"
Because September is World Alzheimer’s Month, this year’s run will benefit our memory care wing at our assisted living residence, Hawthorn House, where military widows with Alzheimer’s and dementia reside. (Learn more about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia here.) Every dollar raised from this virtual event will provide care and support for the residents there. We feel this would make CMSAF Binnicker proud.
Social from a Distance
Although this year’s race is virtual, we’ve added new features to keep the event social and fun. We’ve opened a private Facebook group for participants where you can chat to one another, post photos and videos, compare training tips, and more. We’ll also go live or post videos from special guests from time to time. We’ve also created some challenges so you can win prizes. The most important challenge is the Go the Extra Mile Challenge.
Go the Extra Mile
The world has changed for all of us, but the one thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to our residents. Because of these new changes, we have new challenges. We need your help more than ever. We ask each runner to go the extra mile by creating a Facebook fundraiser in conjunction with your run or walk. We call it the Go the Extra Mile Challenge, and we’ll reward the top three fundraisers.
Every dollar you raise will provide care and support for military widows who live on our memory care wing at our assisted living residence, Hawthorn House.
Run or Walk Safely
Please follow CDC guidelines and recommendations from your local health officials when deciding to run or walk with those outside of your household.
